EMT-Paramedics are true health care professionals providing the highest level of care available outside of a hospital. Paramedics work under the supervision of a physician using written protocols or online guidance to extend advanced-level care to the sick and injured.

In non-emergency situations, the paramedic provides safe transport to care destinations and supervises the activities of EMT-Basic providers on the ambulance. Paramedics also work in the offshore environment, aeromedical transport and on critical care ground transport ambulances.
